5G infrastructure revenue will reach US$19.13 billion in 2021
According to a Gartner report, Global 5G network infrastructure will rise from $13.77 billion last year to US$19.13 billion in 2021. Also, Gartner predicts that 5G will account for 39% of total wireless infrastructure revenue this year. In terms of the US, 5G revenue will increase to $4.3 billion while 5G revenue in Western Europe will reach $1.6 billion this year. China is the leader and will reach $9.1 billion.
The pandemic spiked demand for optimized and ultrafast broadband connectivity to support work-from-home and bandwidth-hungry applications, such as streaming video, online gaming and social media applications - noted Michael Porowski, senior principal research analyst at Gartner.

Chinese telcos deploy 961,000 5G sites, 700,000 NB-IoT base stations
The report from Chinese news outlet Sina Finance stated that Chinese operators have deployed about 961,000 5G base stations and reached 80% of the total number of 5G sites deployed globally. While China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom said they had deployed more than 700,000 NB-IoT base stations nationwide.

Cloud-computing giants and phone companies partner to drive the market for 5G business services
Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Corp have all signed partnerships with telcos including AT&T Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc to make super-fast 5G networks more efficient and cheaper to run.

Google, Facebook tackle new subsea cable routes in Asia, Africa
Google, and a group of Facebook and seven operator partners, plan to expand their subsea cable networks in Asia and Africa. Google expects that the latest cable is expected to be ready for service in 2024 and will connect Singapore, Japan, Guam, the Philippines, Taiwan and Indonesia.
